Been a while, hasn’t it?
I’d like to apologise for the distinct lack of content on DAVE vs BRAIN lately: apparently I’ve not posted anything new in months. I’ll avoid dwelling on the limp excuses too long and simply say that work has been eating up my free time something chronic (new postings will do that to you) and that it’s not that I’ve been avoiding writing.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
The last two months, I’ve largely been focusing on finishing several short stories and gearing up for a new writing project that I hope will be getting underway soon
maybe potentially possibly. Not only has this allowed me to submit one of the stories to a few writing competitions/magazines, I’ve also been able to start sharing some of my stories elsewhere on the internet. If you’ll forgive a spot of flagrant self promotion, I’d like to take the opportunity to link said story here: if you’re interested in my thoughts on writing even if your brain has a tendency to fuck with you periodically, you might be interested in what I wind up producing in terms of fiction and other such shenanigans.
You can find Family Dinner, a short story I frantically scraped together in an evening for a writing contest, on both Wattpad and/or Fictionpress: I’m hoping to have it up on my own personal site soon, but it’s in such a state of disrepair that I think a refurbishment is needed before I can do that.
With the self-promotion aside, thanks to everyone who’s been reading (and signing up to the newsletter) so far. I’ve heard from some of you and your feedback has been fantastic. I’m hoping that this is the start of me getting back to regular updates, but I’m not going to make the mistake of promising anything: that has a tendency to end badly, going by past experiences. Let’s just chalk this up to a ‘Watch This Space’, and you can follow me on Twitter (OH GOD I’M DOING IT AGAIN) if you’d like to be updated about new blog posts.
